randomness and more

Alright so because I have been out of town/sick for the past week and a half I have missed some class and not been able to write on this thing as much as I should have. So this weekend I made time to go see a couple friends at OU and go to the OU vs TCU game.

Again, since I like complaining about my pet peeves here I go again. I don’t have a problem with blind school spirit but, jesus; its a friggin’ cult up there.  I have trouble accepting the “our school is better then yours” thing. Especially when it comes to sports. I follow college football more then most sports fans and although OU has recently taken over the number 1 spot; they may not be the best team in the nation (as with any number 1). Obviously bama and mizzou are the ones that have the capability to take OU down right now, however the way OU is playing they look really solid. Anywho – all my friends know nothing about college football, or anything to do with it for that matter (exept Sam BAD-FORDS name).

So I’m at the game sitting in the student section cause I snuck in (cheering for TCU by the way) and just getting ripped on by these fans everywhere. I knew OU was gonna lay the smack down but I was hoping for an upset. So everytime OU did anything good I was sure to hear of it 100 times over right after the play; my problem comes in where these people who know nothing about the sport or whats going on give me crap when I know more about their own team then they do. I realize I’m invading their space when it comes to cheering for the opposite team AT OU.

Anyways to get to the point; I believe their are unwritten rules to being a sports fan (especially when you go to the college and have classes with players on the team). I had a friend who pointed out Demarco Murray (bad a** RB for OU) in the parking lot of thier apartment complex but asked me what number he was and what he played on the field.  So to OU kids and all other schools alike I’m sure; learn some stats before you go to the game. If you are going to pretend to be the most hardcore (insert school here) fan in the world, then be able to hold an intelligent conversation about them………or else just come out and say “I dont know crap; I just cheer for them cause I go here” and stop BSing
